Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are gel-like substances made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring component of the skin. Dermal fillers have a multitude of cosmetic uses – they can be used to create volume or restore lost volume, such as in the lips and cheeks, smooth lines and soften creases, and enhance contouring for a more youthful appearance.

Downtime: There is no downtime with dermal fillers, however, it is advised to avoid vigorous physical activity for 24-48 hours after treatment.

What to expect post-treatment: Prior to your treatment, numbing cream will be given to you to use to improve your comfort during the procedure. You may experience some redness, bruising and swelling post-procedure, which will resolve after a few days – cold compresses may be used to improve these symptoms. You should inform your doctor if you have a history of Herpes Simplex(cold sores) so that you can be prescribed medication prior to treatment to avoid a breakout. You should avoid any sun or UV lamp exposure and protect your skin adequately with SPF50+ sunblock, especially for the first 24 hours post-treatment.

Your satisfaction is important to us! You will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment 2 weeks after the treatment to evaluate how the filler has settled.

How many treatments are needed? The effects of dermal fillers can last anywhere between 6-12 months before you will need a top-up treatment.
